Food and Lodging

No one ever goes hungry at the St. John Neumann Renewal Center!

Participants are offered three meals a day, with breakfast at 8 a.m., lunch at noon and dinner at 6 p.m. Those with dietary restrictions or preferences, such as vegan, are requested to indicate them at registration. Efforts are made to ensure that each participant has well-balanced, nutritious meals. Both hot and cold selections are offered at breakfast. For example, hot oatmeal and a selection of cold cereals are provided, along with a variety of yogurts. Eggs, bacon or sausages may be offered with cereal selections as options. Lunches typically include a variety of deli meats and sides for sandwiches, soups or stews and salads. Dinner includes an entrée, vegetables and/or salads, potato, rice or other starch and dessert. Each meal provides selections to accommodate a wide variety of preferences.

A variety of snacks, including 24-hour availability of coffee, teas, sodas, and other drinks, are available in the dining room. Snacks include seasonal fresh fruit, cookies and assorted crackers and spreads. Those who have a particular preference, are encouraged to make it known so that it can be accommodated.

Each participant will be assigned a private room, that is clean and simply furnished. Couples also may be accommodated.Most rooms are furnished with two twin beds and a desk, chair, two lounge chairs, lamps, clock, night stand and sink. Handicapped accessible lodging is available. In addition to a private room, the center has large outdoor patio and gardens for participants' use and enjoyment. Common areas include the chapel, a dining room and a lounge.

All participants, including those from the Tallahassee-area, are encouraged to stay at the center. Evening programs include question and answer sessions, lectures, slide shows and video presentations on aspects of icons and iconography. Evenings also provide participants with social time and informal discussions about the day's work.
